General Information

You are interested to explore our beautiful country for a longer or shorter period…You’re sure you want to see the famous and impressive “Great Migration”…
Maybe you feel more for a combination of safari and beach holiday on Zanzibar….
You’re a photographer and want a special photographic safari in one or more of the Tanzania National Parks…
You only have 1 or 2 days before or after climbing Mount Kilimanjaro…
You might have to wait for your flight home or to a next destination….
No matter what, we are totally flexible and can tailor-make your unique and unforgettable wildlife experience according to your own personal preferences, budget, interests and needs. Below you’ll find a list of possible and proposed itineraries, but we will certainly work out a personal one for your own private group.

Actually we advise and recommended everyone to take at least one day extra in Arusha before any planned activity or trip: your luggage might be delayed (1 in 7 people have their luggage delayed for approx. 24 hours), it’s advisable to get used to the elevation (Arusha – 1.450m), flights arriving at night might dehydrate and tire people….
Other shorter excursions are also a possibility, like there are: Lake Duluti (walk around or canoe across), visit of a coffee plantation, hot springs visit for a relaxing swim in the fresh, clean and clear water, visit of a Maasai village to experience their culture and dayly life….
The departure date of our safari trips depends on your arrival date! Please, don’t hesitate to contact us for more detailed information.

Day Trip Arusha National Park

After breakfast our professional tour guide/driver will pick you up at your accommodation. After a short briefing we drive towards the National Park of your choice. It is one of the smallest parks in Tanzania, but it is a versatile jewel that is often overlooked, while you will find here amazingly beautiful and different living areas. It is also one of the few parks where it is possible to take a walk under guidance of an armed park ranger (=optional). The “entrance gate” leads to shady mountain forests, inhabited by curious Blue Monkeys and acrobatic Black and White Colobus Monkeys. Further north, rolling hills enclose the “Momela Lakes”, each with a different shade of green or blue. In Arusha NP many bird species feel at home, including the flamingo. Buffalos, giraffes, waterbucks, zebras, warthogs, hippos and small predators can be seen all year round.

It is the modest cousin of Mount Kilimanjaro, the 4,566 m high Mount Meru (the 5th highest peak in Africa), which dominates the landscape on the horizon. The todays’ program includes a combination of game drives throughout different sections of the park (like there are: Ngurdoto Crater, Momela Lakes,…) and a picnic lunch in nature while gazing at the rolling hills and savannahs around you. A leisurely stroll with an armed park ranger is another option to get a different experience.. At the end of the day, after you have had enough time to observe wildlife, we take you back to your accommodation in Arusha.

Day Trip Tarangire NP

After breakfast, our professional tour guide/driver will pick you up at your accommodation. After a brief introduction and briefing we will drive for approximately 2 hours (120 km) towards the entrance gate of Tarangire National Park.
This park is especially known for its large number of elephants and baobab trees. It is a long, narrow park that follows mainly the north-south course of the same-named river. The Tarangire river has water all year round but in the dry months, between July and October, lots of animals from the surrounding areas come to drink here. You certainly won’t be disappointed when you visit this park in the dry season. Besides elephants, also lions (even tree climbing), eland, impala, gazelles, buffalo, wildebeest, leopards, cheetahs, zebras, giraffes, warthogs and many different bird species can be seen.

Tarangire NP consist mostly of soft rolling hills on the bottom of the Great Rift Valley, with savannahs, open acacia woodland and giant baobabs. This vegetation is interspersed with vast marshlands that attracts lots of wildlife. Armed with a lunch box, which we will provide you at one of the picnic sites, we will explore this park for nearly a whole day. Day Trip Lake Manyara NP

Early morning, after breakfast, our professional tour guide/driver will meet up with you. After a brief acquaintance and explanation we travel west to Lake Manyara National Park. Prior to the northern entrance gate arrival, we pass the rural market town of Mto-wa-Mbu, where diverse indigenous Tanzanian tribes, including Maasai, Iraqw, Irangi, Mgubwe, Chagga, Datoga and Goronwa live peacefully together. It’s also a souvenir hunters paradise. Lake Manyara is famous for its three climbing lions and over 400 different species of birds. We especially look for an abundance of water birds: thousands of flamingos, yellow-billed storks and pelicans gather on and around the lake. The soda lake, which covers two-thirds of the park, stretches about 50 km along the base of the 600 meter high western escarpment of the Great Rift Valley, and makes a picturesque gem of it. In the first part winding roads lead us through jungle-like forest, where often baboons are grooming each other nonchalantly along the roadside. Look out as well for blue monkeys, vervet monkeys and bushbuck.

Then we enter an area of grassland, which changes seasonally from short green lawns to golden dry grass savannah. When it’s green you find here more wildebeests, warthogs, buffalos and zebras, when it’s more dry also ostriches and giraffes are frequently seen. Inland to this grassland, a narrow belt of acacia forest is the favorite shelter for Manyara’s legendary tree climbing lions, and a real playground for banded mongoose. It’s also a heaven for impressively tusked elephants.
Depending on the game viewing a maybe favorite picnic area can be found in the farther south of the park, above “hot springs” steaming and bubbling in the immediate vicinity of the lakeshore. In the later afternoon, and after more time for game and wildlife watching, we return back to Arusha.

Day Trip Ngorongoro Crater

The Ngorongoro Crater, which is a World Heritage Site, contains the most concentrated population of wildlife anywhere in Africa in a spectacular setting. For this trip an early departure is required because of the longer driving distance and travel time (approx. 3 hours). Our professional guide will give you a brief safari explanation and off we are. We pass the rural market town Mto-wa-Mbu and the entrance area of Lake Manyara National Park. A little bit further a viewpoint invites for a short stop. Here you have a great view on Lake Manyara and the Great Rift Valley Escarpment. At the top of the Manyara Escarpment we drive into a green area with fertile farmland and a magnificent mountain landscape. Blue-purple hills surround orderly fields with dark red soil on which wheat, sweet potatoes, beans and coffee are grown.

Once we drive through the gate of the protected area, a dirt reddish road begins. The vegetation is jungle like, green and tick, in the dry season covered with a dust layer. The road climbs and meanders. After about 20 to 30 minutes, there’s a first stop at an amazing viewpoint. No matter how many times you have looked out here over the Ngorongoro Crater, it takes your breath away. It is without doubt one of the most spectacular views in the world! More than 26000 hectares of grassland stretches below you, surrounded by the 400 to 600m high walls of the caldera. A little later we descend the 600m steep wall towards the “Crater floor” for a few hours of fascinating game viewing, including rhinos, lions, hyenas, elephants and all other African species, except giraffes.

For our picnic lunch we will proceed to the Crater picnic site at the Ngoitokok swamp, a Hippo pool. Afterwards we continue for some more time of game spotting. Timely and hopefully satisfied, we leave “the crater” and head back to Arusha and your accommodation.
